Packing Services

It would be Georgetown Moving and Storage pleasure to pack all your household goods prior to your move. If for your convenience you would like to pack yourself, this guide will introduce you to a range of boxes and packing materials commonly used in the moving business. We also offer delivery of boxes and packing materials. Please contact our office if you have any question about packing materials.

Packing Material Guide

BOOK CARTONS (1.5 cubic feet) 17x12.5x12.5 – Small boxes can be very useful not only for packing books. All small items from drawers can easily be placed inside. They are also very helpful to carry documents, pictures, CD/DVD collections.

MEDIUM CARTONS (3.0 cubic feet) 18x18x16 – Great for packing bathroom and closet items. Garage stuff will also find a place inside the medium carton as well.

LARGE CARTONS (4.5 cubic feet) 18x18x24 – We would prefer that you use these for packing pillows & bedroom linen. Also ideal for packing clothes from drawers or items in your attic, such a Christmas decorations.

DISH PACK BOX (6.0 cubic feet) 18x18x32 – There is nothing better for packing fragiles from the kitchen and dining room. Great for dishes and glasses, because its double sided walls provide additional safety for all your fragile items.

PICTURE CARTON – A set of 4 picture boxes properly constructed will create a safe box for all sized pictures. For safety put each picture box in the picture corner and slide boxes together to make one picture carton.

PACKING PAPER – Unprinted white paper is excellent for providing security for all fragile items wrapped in it. Two sheets of paper are usually enough to cover each fragile item.

TAPE – Packing tape will help to ensure that all boxes are securely closed after packing. Tape is also useful to secure mattress bags protecting your mattress or box spring as well. Also it will help metal bed frames stay together after taping.

BUBBLE WRAP – Plastic containing air bubbles, which is an extremely useful protective wrapping material. Bubble wrap can also be used to fill spaces around items if you are packing them in boxes to stop items from moving around. Also it helps protect ceramic lamp bases or soft wood items.

KRAFT BUBBLE – Paper containing small air bubbles, ideal for wrapping all small and big pictures before packing in picture cartons. Great for putting your furniture in storage as well.

STORAGE PAPER – Big sheet contains 4 layers of gray paper, which is excellent to protect all furniture going to a storage facility, by providing strong dust protective cover for all your wood items and is used instead of moving pads for storage.

Also on the day of your move we will use additional material like:

MOVING BLANKETS – Furniture will be protected by using moving blankets during the moving process.

WARDROBE BOXES – All your hanging clothes will be packed by the movers on moving day in a wardrobe box. The wardrobe box will prevent your hanging clothes from getting dirty or wrinkled in transit.

MATRESS BAGS – This is a very large plastic bag specially designed to cover your mattress or box spring.

Packing Preparation

LABELS – It is important to label each box properly in order to help find its correct place in your new home. Some useful labels would be which room it is going to like “kitchen”, “dining room” or "master bedroom”.  If your box contains fragile items or if it is heavy, label it accordingly.

PICTURES AND MIRRORS – If you need special packing for art, mirrors or marble please inform our office immediately. This way on your move day we will have the correct size crate and proper materials to ensure safe transport.

AUDIO, VIDEO AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT – Please turn off and disconnected all electronic equipment before your move starts. This will prevent all your audio and TV components from being warm and causing damage of fragile electronic components. Our movers will pack and label them correctly.

LAMPS – Movers will place lampshades inside a medium or large box depending on size. Lamps will be packed or wrapped in a moving blanket, and placed inside a commercial bin.

CUSTOMIZED CRATING - Glass, marble, mirrors, art and antiques are only a few examples of items that we can custom crate for the individual. Our professional and highly skilled handyman will prepare a crate for any size item you have.

CUSTOMER PACK – We cannot accept responsibility for any item not packed by Georgetown's packing crew.
